St. Paul's Walking Trail
This walking route is actually not as well known as the Lycia walking route, but has received more attention in recent years because it is a route that has not yet been fully discovered by tourism.
However, the route is passable for the enthusiastic walker.
It is Turkey's second longest cultural walking route. The landscape includes the Toros Mountains,
lakes, forest and deep rock gorges (canyons). The heights, the lakes and the valleys give a different picture than the Mediterranean and Aegean coastline that attracts so many visitors.
The Toros Mountains and the lakes are easily accessible and St. Paul inspires the walker to walk this route.
The area of this walking route is located in two Roman provinces, Pamphylia and Pisidia. In 46 AD, St. Paul walked from Perge (Pamphylia) to Antioch.
There is a western and eastern route.
We offer you the possibility to walk the western route in stages.
The program (7 nights) :
2 in Antalya, 2 Arrival in Antalya and you will stay in a small intimate hotel in the old center of Antalya. The next day we will visit the archaeological museum in the morning where you can get a taste of the rich history of this area. In the afternoon and evening you can share your own time. We recommend that you take a look at the center around the old harbor in Antalya (Kaleici) or enjoy the beach in Konyaalti, Beachpark. Here you can also enjoy a delicious meal in one of the cozy restaurants or beach clubs in the evening.
The next day, travel just outside the city to Perge (30 minutes). You will start your walk in the beautiful old city in Perge (1200 BC) where you will find historical remains from the Persian, Greek, Roman and Arab cultures. From here you walk the route to the Kursunlu national park (3 hours) where beautiful waterfalls are visible. From Kursunlu you walk to Akcapinar where Indigo Valley is located and where you will spend the night in a wooden chalet surrounded by trees and where, in the evening, a tasty barbeque meal awaits you. The route from Kursunlu to Akcapinar passes through valleys, forest and stretches along the river (7 hours)
The next day you walk from Akcapinar to the Ucansu Falls (2 hours 40 minutes). The route runs along the bed of the Ucansu River. In Ucansu you can rest and swim in a beautiful large natural lake. After the overnight stay, you will go to Hasgebe (3 hours 50 minutes) via the village of Kozan, which is located on the rocky area of Bodrumkaya, where you can visit the historic settlement of Pednelissos. From this point you have a breathtaking view over the waterfalls and forest to the coast of the parent Pamphylia. We end the walk in Pinargozu where you can enjoy a traditional meal of fresh trout (if you don't like fish you can also order something else) The bus will take you back to Indigo Valley and at the campfire we will talk about everything you have experienced along the way and after the overnight stay you can relax the next day and swim in the natural lake or in the swimming pool which is located near Indigo Valley. The next morning after breakfast this program is finished and if you wish you can continue your journey to other beautiful areas or have your return flight via Antalya airport.
You can extend your holiday before or after the St. Pauls walk. For example, by staying a little longer in Antalya (city) or with us in Indigo Valley.
The program includes 7 nights accommodation and transfer from the last hiking stop to Indigo Valley. Including breakfast and including the 3 meals in Indigo Valley. All other meals during this trip are at your own expense.
We advise you to take out travel insurance with your insurance company.
